We are all aware of patterns. We see patterns in traditions, institutions, even personal actions. This book came about from the recognition of a pattern in how educators were viewing assessment.

Successful completion of any big project is never a solitary act. This is extremely true in the case of trying to research, write, rewrite, and meet the deadlines that surround the publishing of a book. Since this was our first book, we were also blissfully unaware of the complexities. However, family, friends, and colleagues offered constant support for which we are ever so grateful.
